The European Union fined Amazon 746 million euros. "CNN" reveals details

Amazon is facing a record €746 million fine after the European Union's data privacy regulator said the e-commerce giant had violated The Federation's Privacy Act, known as GDPR in an advertising resolution.

According to CNN, the fine was imposed on July 16, and was revealed on Friday as the largest in the law's three-year history, followed by a fine imposed on Google in 2019 50 million euros.

The regulators stated that Amazon's handling of personal data does not comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations, and the company acknowledged that it had been ordered to change its business practices.

The company said: "The decision as to how to display relevant advertising to customers depends on subjective and untested interpretations of European privacy law, and the proposed fine does not fit perfectly with that interpretation."
